Power Her Up is designed to tackle the significant startup support and funding gap that women face when wanting to start a business.
The Pathways Report: A new approach for women in entrepreneurship, published by the Scottish Government in 2022, made it clear, there’s an under-participation of women in entrepreneurship. Despite more than 50% of Scotland's population being women, currently only 1 in 5 of Scotland's entrepreneurs are women, while start-ups founded by women in Scotland receive only 2% of overall investment capital.
The PHU programme is designed to provide women founders and innovators with a strong foundation for success. Our programme will guide you through the process of launching and growing your business or social enterprise, including support for potential spinouts, ensuring you have the best chance to succeed at the early stages of your entrepreneurial journey.
The PHU programme welcomes all students, recent graduates and staff, including postdoctoral researchers, from the University of Edinburgh who identify as women, including trans and intersex women.
